PERSONAL INJURY: COUPLE DIES AFTER COLLISION WITH TRACTOR-TRAILER
Truck drivers are often stereotyped as aggressive or reckless drivers. Unfortunately, personal injury attorneys are aware of how often those stereotypes may be true. Not all truck drivers are negligent with their driving, but regulations such as limited amount of hours allowed to drive or ignoring traffic laws are often broken by many truckers. One Illinois community is mourning the loss of a married couple following a recent collision involving a tractor-trailer.
The couple was reportedly traveling northbound on a highway when the collision occurred at an intersection. The collision occurred with a tractor-trailer that was used to haul grain. The couple’s injuries were very serious, and they did not survive to be transported for more medical treatment. Further details of the accident have not been released as the investigation continues.
The 57-year-couple were apparently very involved in their community. Reportedly, they not only volunteered with various charities, but they were also very involved in their church community. They are survived by two adult children.
Understandably, the unexpected loss of one parent is difficult, but the loss of both at the same time is not comprehensible. In addition to sorting through the emotional roller coaster of processing a loved one’s death, families also must process all the related expenses that follow an earlier than expected death. Illinois personal injury attorneys may advise some families in similar collisions with tractor-trailer trucks to file a wrongful death lawsuit. If evidence of negligence is present, truck companies could be held liable for any accident-related monetary damages.
