ILLINOIS DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUFFER SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY
When an Illinois driver takes the road, there are many factors out of his or her control to maintain safety. Road conditions, weather and negligent driving of other drivers are a few of the conditions that drivers cannot control. Recently, one man died and a passenger suffered personal injury due to another driver’s actions on the road.
The two pickup trucks involved in the crash were traveling in opposite directions when the accident occurred. For unknown reasons, the truck traveling southbound crossed the median and struck the other truck head-on. The impact resulted in the death of the northbound truck driver. The northbound truck also contained a passenger who suffered injuries but is expected to survive. The road was closed for several hours as the accident was investigated and cleared.
Both the southbound driver and his passenger also suffered injuries, but both are expected to survive. The driver was cited for improper lane usage and driving on a suspended or revoked license. In addition, he was charged with operating an uninsured vehicle and driving his truck too fast for the conditions of the roads.
In addition to not being able to control the actions of other drivers, the family and injured passenger could not control the motorist’s lack of insurance. It may seem overwhelming when another driver is uninsured and victims are faced with numerous expenses related to an accident, but attorneys can often over hope in a difficult situation. Illinois personal injury attorneys can advise victims of their options to file a claim against their own insurance to assist with medical bills and/or burial expenses.
